South Park, Myers Park and Dilworth make up an exclusive area in south Charlotte often referred to as the "Old South." They contain some of Charlotte's most charming, historical and eclectic streets and neighborhoods.
South Park is located in Mecklenburg County on the south end of Charlotte just minutes from uptown and is centered at the intersection of Fairview and Sharon Road. It is part of the greater south Charlotte area but it has developed its own identity as a complete neighborhood with every convenience nearby. South Park Mall is located in the center of South Park and is part of one of the largest retail areas in the state. It is complemented by several other shopping areas, including Sharon Corners , Phillips Place, Morrocroft Village and the Specialty Shops of the Park. The South Park District also hosts the Charlotte Symphony's Summer Pops concerts at Symphony Park. There are free evening concerts that bring the community together every spring/summer at a local amphitheater. South Park also is home of the Morrison Public Library, Harris YMCA, the greenways at McMullen and Park Road Park. In addition, there are several universities, public and private in the area as well as a community college.
Myers Park is one of Charlotte’s oldest neighborhoods and is only a 5-10 min drive from uptown. It consists of wide boulevards, connected by Queens Road, with Carolinas Medical Center (hospital), Queens College, and Freedom Park. Large oaks line the neighborhood roads, some over 100 years old. Homes are priced from the $400s to well over 2 Million dollars in this elegant Charlotte suburb. The Myers Park neighborhood stretches from Queens Road on the north; Sharon Road on the south; Providence Road on the east; and Colony, East Woodlawn and South Kings on the west. Myers Park includes the Duke Mansion, Queens University, many of Charlotte’s oldest and well-known church congregations.
Dilworth is one of the original suburbs of Charlotte and is located just south of Uptown Charlotte. It features beautiful stately, mature oak trees, sidewalks, and houses with front porches. Because of its convenient location, home renovations, tear downs and re-builds began over the last 30 years. It’s one of the largest collections of Craftsman style bungalows on the east coast Dilworth is extremely convenient for those who work in the business district of Uptown Charlotte or at one of the two hospitals nearby. East Boulevard is a main thoroughfare through the neighborhood and has many restaurants, offices and shops throughout.
